Herne Hill School lollipop lady lifts UK title

Everyone at the Kwik Fit Insurance Lollipop Person of the Year Awards send our warm congratulations to our UK winner for 2010, London lollipop lady, Pauline Martin!

Pauline, 67, has been awarded the title by judges following the fantastic effort Herne Hill pupils put in to their entry and the wonderful work Pauline has done in campaigning for a permanent zebra crossing outside the school.

Pauline is a well-known figure in the community and is a deserved winner of this year’s title.

With the role of Lollipop person across the UK under threat due to the cuts in Council budgets, Kwik-Fit Insurance has launched a petition to highlight the dangerous implications for the safety of the UK's schoolchildren.
